Washington, DC – PTCB is honored to announce that Joseph Ahenkorah will serve as our Executive Fellow beginning in July 2022. A final-year student pharmacist at the University of Minnesota, Ahenkorah has interned at Walgreens Pharmacy since 2016 and volunteers at the Philips Neighborhood Clinic in Minneapolis. He was awarded the University of Minnesota’s Melendy Scholarship for his research at the Center of Orphan Disease Research, where he focused on epilepsy caused by traumatic brain injuries. He has served in leadership roles as his cohort’s class representative, through his involvement in the Phi Delta Chi fraternity, and on the board of a student chapter of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
“From my experience with direct patient care at Walgreens and at my community clinic, I saw first hand the integral role pharmacy technicians play in patient and medication safety,” Ahenkorah said. “As the Executive Fellow with PTCB, I’m eager to have a hand in the evolving pharmacy landscape. As an aspiring pharmacist, I look forward to advocating for technicians and increasing resources and accessibility for people who want to get certified.”
During his fellowship, Ahenkorah will receive specialized training in PTCB’s credential programs, outreach activities with PTCB stakeholders, and the expanding roles and responsibilities fulfilled by today’s pharmacy technicians.
“My goal is to learn more about the inner workings of a non-profit organization, build my network, and continue to grow as a leader to be a well-rounded individual and an impactful member of my community,” Ahenkorah said.
Ahenkorah loves exercising, hiking, playing soccer, and reading.
