“I have been a person of faith, wife, mother, and pharmacy technician for almost 12 years. I would like to dedicate this to my parents, who I love dearly. On one sunny day in March, I got a phone call on my cell phone at work that the schools would be closing for two weeks due to COVID-19. In that moment, I was stunned! I didn't know how much COVID-19 would disturb my life, but I soon was about to find out.
Prior to that day, about a week back, we gathered at my church to celebrate my Pastor on March 15th for his Pastor's Appreciation. About two weeks, later my mom and stepdad begin to get sick. They both had terrible coughs, headaches, and congestion. My mom described it as ‘her chest closing in.’ She was literally suffocating at home because her lungs weren't working properly. My stepdad had pneumonia in one of his lungs, and didn't even know it! I didn't realize that if the ambulance hadn't come in time that part of my heart would have DIED! The responder said that my mom and stepdad only had maybe two or three days left to live if they hadn't got the proper medical treatment.
I thank God for keeping them and breathing the breath of life within them. What I learnt from this experience is that we are nothing apart, but everything when we come together, and to cherish the ones you love, and live everyday with gratitude.”
