Helping Each Other Get Through Our Day

“I have worked in a retail pharmacy for 15 years now, and I honestly have never seen it like it has been. We are working 10 to 12-hour days and help each other get through our day. But we love what we do and try to make the most of what we can to keep our spirits high when we start to see one of us getting tired.

We all have families at home, children. I myself have a 1-year-old daughter at home. And after working all day, 10 hours or so, and then going home and taking care of her, I make sure I have a smile on my face and time to play with her even though I am dead tired. But I do it because she deserves it after dealing with me being gone for so long. It does worry me that I could catch it and bring it home. We take the precautions and wear our masks and PPE but you just never know.

I just want to thank everyone that works beside me or at any other pharmacy for everything you are doing. I feel when they talk about people in the ‘frontlines’ they tend to leave us out. We are the first place people come to when feeling sick to see what they can take before they go to the doctors. We are at just as much risk as the nurses and doctors in the hospitals because we don’t know if the person we are helping who is handing us money and products is infected.”
