We Have a New Look!
PTCB has witnessed remarkable change since our founding in 1995, both in pharmacy and in our own organization. It’s beyond time for us to create a new brand identity that reflects who we are now while honoring where we came from. Our new brand is an updated reflection of who we are today and our steadfast commitment to excellence in medication safety.

Changes Are Coming in 2020 for Initial Candidates
We are preparing for significant Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Program changes for initial candidates that will take effect on January 1, 2020. Announced in January 2018, these changes reaffirm PTCB’s commitment to ensuring that our CPhT Program advances medication safety and patient care.
  • We have updated the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) content outline with specific knowledge areas to be reflected in the updated PTCE beginning January 1, 2020.
  • Beginning in 2020, PTCB will offer two pathway options to eligibility. Applicants must complete either: 1) a PTCB-recognized education/training program; OR  2) equivalent work experience.

Pharmacy Technician Day Breaks Records
Recognition of Tech Day has grown and this year was expanded to countries across the world. In honor of the day on October 16, the pharmacy technician community participated in multiple ways, drawing record numbers of technicians into the international conversation. Technicians participated in various activities, including the #RxTechDay chat throughout the day, sharing photos via the Facebook event, downloading graphics and badges to wear and display, and adding a Technician Day frame to their Facebook profile. We appreciate the commitment of so many pharmacy technicians who are dedicated to their work and their patients.
