The Drug Enforcement Agency, established in 1973 to enforce federal drug laws and to control drug activities within the United States, has regulatory authority over controlled substances dispensed in the community pharmacy. This lesson will review roles, requirements and forms to enable compliance with federal laws.
Upon completion of this program, the technician should be able to:
- Define the DEA Diversion Control Division and describe purpose.
- Identify states/pharmacists’ role as it pertains to DEA Form 222.
- Describe pharmacy best practices.
