CE Update: Building a Patient Safety Environment for Pharmacy Technicians

by Laura Humphrey | May 27, 2016

Pharmacists rely on technicians to help promote the safety they enforce. Knowing the flow of your pharmacy and federal and state rules and regulations can help guide you to provide the best managed care possible. To prevent medication errors, technicians must put patient safety first. The goal a technician should have when filling a prescription is to be 100% error-free. The learning objectives for this course are:

  • Identify steps to reduce medications errors and promote patient safety during workflow at drop-off, entry, filling and pick-up
  • Explain ways pharmacy technicians can effectively assist pharmacists with duties that affect patient care and safety
  • Recognize the role of PTCB and describe how they ensure their certification meets the needs of state Boards of Pharmacy in protecting health, safety and welfare of the public
