Hannah Peabody, CPhT, is the Certified Pharmacy Technician at The Patient Rx Center of Hematology/Oncology Associates of Central New York (HOACNY), a private practice with more than 40 providers seeing 4,500 patients annually. She has helped secure more than $1,300,000 in financial support to assist patients who fill their prescriptions at HOACNY’s center, where the ever-rising costs of oral oncolytics makes it difficult for many to obtain life-saving therapies to treat cancers and blood disorders without assistance. The effort to secure patient funding, Hannah explains, is a multi-faceted mission that includes navigating the prior authorization process, continually communicating with providers, and managing multiple applications. Hannah works with a variety of funding sources, including the Chronic Disease Fund, Patient Access Network, Patient Advocate Foundation, Health Well Foundation, Patient Services Inc., and pharmaceutical company programs.
